LISL

LISL writes indie anthems—that’s how she sees it, and that’s exactly how her songs come across. What builds up like a wall of sound actually originates in the cozy comfort of LISL’s shared apartment room, where she usually writes in bed with her guitar. She starts off intimately, until, as LISL puts it, she finds herself “in a concert setting with tight drums, a full bass, and catchy lead guitars”—the best outcome ever!
Her contemporary indie rock follows in the tradition of Liz Phair, Ani DiFranco, Lucinda Williams, and That Dog, who sowed plenty of guitar-driven seeds in the ’90s—and today draws inspiration from Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, BECKS, Florence Armand, mxmtoon, and Julien Baker.
