Elena Rud
Elena Rud lives between outburst and reflection, despair and self-mockery, festival stage and lonely bathtub. The singer of the same name lives in Munich, as does her four-piece band (which she affectionately calls her pack). Together they produce innovative and danceable pop music that focuses on Elena’s distinctive, raspy voice framed by sounds of indie rock and synth wave.
In her poetic texts, Elena Body addresses dysmorphia, anxiety, sexism and toxic relationships. She calls this removal of taboos „Melancholic Love Shit“ and thus expresses the world-weariness of her generation – between hatred of others and self, body image problems and anxiety. The four guys in her band not only have her back, but also defend themselves against the toxic ideals by which they are measured in our world – for more weakness, insecurity and glitter make-up instead of dominance, oppression and aggression. As depressing as that may sound at first, Elena Rud is by no means hopeless. On the contrary: her appearance is self-confident, her message is empowering: we all have these problems, let’s finally talk about them.
